The Ford Motor Company has now come up with a new plan so as to bring up their declining sales. With the 2007 crossovers hot and very attractive in the auto market, the company is making sure that when they do send out these new crossovers to dealers and showrooms, they would be coming with tag prices that would surely have retail customers coming in to purchase one for themselves.
Now, according to Cisco Codina, who is the group vice president of the company for marketing, sales, and service in the North America area, “Our intent is to have good leases and good pricing. We do not plan to have any visible cash on those vehicles.”
And what vehicles are these, you may ask? The new crossovers to be offered with low prices are the 2007 Ford Edge and the 2007 Lincoln MKX. And both of these vehicles would be surely available come November this year. However, the company still yet has to give out what the prices on these new and blazing vehicles would be. Rumors have it, though, that they would be very flexible and owners would surely have a grand time changing its parts with other Ford parts like Ford Festiva car parts to personalize the vehicles. As for the prices, seniors in the automobile world have computed that the Ford Edge would be carrying a price that would fall around the $20,000 range. As per the Lincoln MKX, it would be having a tag some $10,000 higher than the Edge.
The Ford Edge is a midsize crossover sport utility vehicle and is offered as a wagon with four doors. The FF/AWD CD3 platform has been used as the base for this vehicle and its power comes from a 3.5 liter Duratec 35 V6 engine.

New Magnesium Wheels Race to U.S. Market
(NewsUSA)- Automotive enthusiasts can now upgrade their vehicles with high-performance, forged magnesium wheels adapted from Formula One racing designs.
Magnesium.com recently announced the introduction of one-piece, forged magnesium wheels for street use in North America. The wheels are 20 percent to 30 percent lighter than forged aluminum and offer increased safety and performance.
"The U.S. wheel market is quite formidable and we intend to supply a smaller but very important segment of the 100 million vehicle wheels used in North America," said Mark Lisnyansky, president of Magnesium.com.
The magnesium alloy wheels are initially available in 20-inch and 22-inch sizes, and are treated with a high-tech anti-corrosion coating. The company will also be developing wheels in various sizes and compositions for specific North American applications.
"Steel wheels are becoming nearly obsolete and the prevailing trend is toward cast aluminum wheels," Lisnyansky said. "While most people are not familiar with forged wheels, performance car enthusiasts know that forged wheels offer significant advantages. And forged magnesium wheels, which are lighter and much stronger than their aluminum counterparts, are the next logical step in optimizing vehicle performance."
Magnesium wheels offer consumers improved safety by shortening braking distances and delivering higher acceleration rates as well as improving gas mileage. The "dampening" factor of magnesium allows for vibrations caused by road imperfections to be absorbed six times more effectively.
Using specialized aviation industry equipment, the company has been producing Superbike and Formula One competition wheel forgings for many years. The wheels are forged in Russia by a subsidiary and then machined and finished in Italy.
Magnesium.com is currently conducting a "Best New Wheel Design" competition and is negotiating with several large distributors to establish a joint machining and finishing facility in the U.S. The company is also considering an acquisition of or a joint venture with a local wheel company with an existing high-end market presence and brand-name recognition.

As per the latest J.D. Power study which dwelt on satisfaction on dealer services, the Saturn brand of vehicles received high marks. This, of course, shows just how well Saturn makes sure that customers and Saturn followers do get the best kind of service when it comes to the products that they offer.
The study done by J.D. Power and Associates was just recently released. It actually measures car owner’s satisfaction. And the study takes into the consideration those who visited the dealer’s service department. The visit could be for a couple of reasons like repair activities or simple maintenance measures which could involve replacement of Saturn performance parts. The study also considers the fact that the visit done by Saturn owners would have to be done during the first three years of owning the Saturn vehicle.
After all the data were collected and analyzed, the statistics showed that the Saturn brand took the 7th spot. It is, indeed, a good ranking since the study took home data for thirty six vehicle brands and makes. The topmost spot was awarded to the Lexus luxury brand.

Power sent out a news release and in that document and announcement, the organization revealed that customers who found satisfaction with the services that they received during their visits to the dealers have a high chance of returning to the dealer for additional services. 3. Bent Push Rods:
If you bend one or more of your push rods for no apparent reason, Crane Cams suggests that you are experiencing some form of mechanical interference in the valve train, The places to look the rocker arm to stud clearance, valve spring coil bind interference between the retainer and the valve seal, or the retainer and the valve guide. In addition, high engine rpm, might be causing the valves to hit the pistons, which in turn binds the push rods. Be sure to check all theses areas if you’re having this problem.

This technology clinic would be done along with some officials from the city of Las Vegas as well as officials from Clark County. There would also be representatives from the taxi industry who would be joining such an event. Common consumers and representatives from the auto market would be taking part of the technology clinic so as to learn more about hybrids.
Primarily, the Ford Escape Hybrid technology clinic would be done as part of the whole campaign towards raising awareness and information dissemination on the advantages and benefits that hybrid technology offers. It is not simply about having cars that offer the latest technology and the best Ford car parts but it is about having the best kind of technology that helps out not only people but the environment as well.
At present, the numbers are rising for the various cities of the United States are now changing ways. More and more cities are now replacing their vehicles with hybrid-electric vehicles. This is in accordance with the campaign towards having cleaner air and reduced fuel costs. And Las Vegas is joining in such a move towards a cleaner environment. Thirty Ford Escape hybrid vehicles were added to the city’s municipal fleet. And its Clark County also has in its hands thirteen Ford Escape hybrids and they are still out for more. Nineteen more of these vehicles would soon be joining the rest of their vehicles.

Hubcaps Need Replacing, Too

They may seem to be just decorative disks but they also do get worn out. Scratches could also be inevitable after your car trudges through various kind of roads and gets splattered with many types of elements.
You may find your hubcap looking very dirty and not like the decorative accessory you bought. So you may now decide to buy a new set of hubcaps from stores that also offer spare parts for Mazda MX6 that would show off the beauty of your car. But your dilemma now would be how to take out the old ones and put in the new set. It is not important for you to go rushing to a mechanic or automobile expert just to have this task done.
The first thing you need to do would be to check the wheels of your car. Find out how the current hubcaps of your car are attached to the center of the wheel. You see, there are some hubcaps that can come off by just a simple push on it. However, there are also some which need you to loosen up some screws that attach it to the wheel.
When you have discovered just how your hubcap is attached to the wheels of your car, your next step would be to actually remove the hubcap. But make sure that when you remove the hubcap off each wheel, you do not damage the wheel. When you have successfully removed the hubcap off one wheel without damaging the wheel of your car, do the same to all the remaining hubcaps that are still attached.

Although the price of gasoline continues to climb upwards, Americans still love driving recreational vehicles. They are big and bulky, and get poor gas mileage, but the convenience of driving a vehicle that also contains some of the comforts of home is appealing, particularly since an RV will allow you to stay in national parks and other campgrounds. Why stay in a hotel when you can stay by a lake? A recreational vehicle does offer vacation opportunities that other types of transportation, such as sport utility vehicles, do not. But like any other vehicle, an RV can break down, and when it does, the repairs can be expensive. They can be even more expensive if you are unprepared for something that many RV buyers don’t know – the lemon laws of most states do not cover recreational vehicles.
Recreational vehicles are not cheap; the price tags of some of them can exceed one million dollars. But while they are legally motor vehicles, most states exempt them from coverage under the lemon laws. Lemon laws are statutes designed to provide consumers who buy defective motor vehicles with recourse against the manufacturer should the vehicle prove repeatedly unreliable. Given the fact that RVs tend to be rather expensive, one would think that they would be covered under these laws, but in most states, that’s not the case. Why not?
Unlike most cars, which are mass-produced by the millions, RVs are mostly assembled by hand. Not only that, but the parts tend to be made by a number of different companies. The drive train might be made by an auto manufacturer, and the body and living quarters might be made by several other companies. There is really no single manufacturer to hold responsible for vehicle defects. A handful of states have some coverage for RVs, but those that do tend to cover only the drive train, and not the living quarters of the vehicle. If you have a transmission problem, you may have recourse under the lemon law. If the stove quits working, the problem is your responsibility.
If you are planning to buy an RV, you should take precautions to minimize the likelihood of problems:
Check your state’s lemon laws to see if the type of vehicle you plan to buy is covered.
Look at vehicles from a number of different manufacturers and examine the warranties offered with the vehicles carefully. You may wish to consider purchasing an extended warranty, if one is offered at the time of sale.
Do some research on past reliability of the type of vehicle you are thinking about buying. If that manufacturer has a history of problems, you may wish to consider buying from a different company.
See if the vehicle carries the seal of the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association. This seal means that the manufacturer belongs to an industry group that requires its members to meet a set of safety standards that includes more than five hundred items.
Owning a recreational vehicle is a lot of fun and can make vacations enjoyable. The last thing you want, however, is to spend your vacation at home while the RV is in the shop. Remember, your state’s lemon law will probably not protect you.

New Headlight Technologies Could Save More Lives
(NewsUSA) - Each year, approximately 5,000 pedestrians and bicyclists are killed along U.S. roads - 2,300 of them occurring at night - and another 70,000 pedestrians are injured in traffic crashes, according to a 2003 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report.
New automotive lighting technologies, including Xenon and Adaptive Front Lighting Systems, can help improve nighttime pedestrian safety, according to the Motor Vehicle Lighting Council.
According to researcher Michael Flannagan of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, drivers "overdrive" the headlights on many of today's vehicles, meaning they are going too fast to stop safely within the distance made visible by the headlights.
"The critical safety need in low-beam lighting is seeing distance," Flannagan said. "The maximum safe speed with today's average low beams is only about 45 mph. Our studies indicate there is a major safety problem that headlights could address."
One possible solution is Xenon headlights, also known as High Intensity Discharge or HID. Based on a gas discharge process, Xenon uses an arc instead of a filament as a light source. The result is enhanced roadway vision by increasing the light output to the sides of the road.
A 2004 University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute test revealed that Xenon headlamps provided twice as much light for seeing critical objects on the road while producing 25 percent less glare. The wider beam coverage also provides better lighting on road shoulders, where pedestrians and bicyclists are commonly found.
Nearly 120 vehicle models equipped with Xenon headlights were sold in North America in the 2005 model year -; up 21 percent from 2004.
Another emerging headlight technology is AFS or Adaptive Front Lighting System. How to Properly Repair Chips and Deep Scratches on Your Car

We all have received them on our cars – rock chips, door dings, bumper scrapes, etc… They can come from a rock thrown up from a truck on the highway, or its as easy as a parking lot ding from someone in a hurry or even an errant grocery cart. Most of these are unavoidable. They can happen even if you park far away from stores and regardless of the measures you take to protect your car. Not only do they detract from your cars beauty, but they can also make your car susceptible to rust and the environment. Here’s how to fix these paint chips, nicks and deep scratches and protect your car from rust.
Its not worth going to a auto paint and body store for chips and scratches. They will charge 10 times more for repairs you can easily do yourself. The first step is to locate the chips and scratches and see how deep they are. If they don’t go all the way through the paint you can buff them out. Using a cloth terry towel apply a small amount of scratch remover or cleaner wax. Rub in a circular motion over the chip or scratch and buff when dry. If this removes the chip or scratch after a couple of applications, great, then just follow with a good wax or polish. If you see white primer or metal in the nick or scratch scratch remover or cleaner wax will not work well.
Some cars have paint that is lacquer based and others have paint that is enamel based. The following tip works wonders on cars with lacquer based paint only. Get a clean rag and apply a small amount of lacquer thinner to it. Take this and rub lightly on and around the scratch, nick or chip. The lacquer thinner will actually start to move the paint around and cover the affected spot. This even works on larger scrapes. This treatment is not recommended on cars with custom paint jobs and may not work on all cars with lacquer based paints.
For those with enamel paint or scratches and chips where the above treatment didn’t work, then you have to touch up the blemish in your paint. First, you need to get the paint code so you can correctly match the paint for your car. This is located inside your door jam or on some Hondas inside the glove box. Take this paint code to your dealer and get a small bottle of touch up paint. The touch up paint will come in a small bottle with a brush applicator. Instead of using the brush, as it will apply too broadly and make your touch up of the chip or scratch really stand out, we recommend using a toothpick for better paint placement.
First clean the area of the chip or scratch. Then follow the directions on the touch up paint bottle. Usually it is mix thoroughly for 5 minutes (metallic paints may require more agitation). Then using the toothpick place the paint directly in the chip or scratch. When done allow to dry for several days before waxing or polishing (some cars have a clear cote which you would then apply in the same fashion to the affected area). By touching up the paint you have sealed the area from the environment and greatly reduced the chances of rust setting in and affecting your sheet metal. Personally I've been studying the Federal Trade Commission since 1998 and I must be perfectly honest; the Federal Trade Commission is the biggest bunch of liars I have ever met and this is my sole opinion, but it is based on personal meetings, direct observation and actual documented experience. The Federal Trade Commission is a group of liars and are completely full of ship.
The Federal Trade Commission has been known to coax complaintants and declarants into misrepresenting facts in order to win a case. Further, it has been proven that they will file these complaints in a secret court, while contacting the media and putting their spin and public relations into play. Is that really the type of agency we needed the United States of America? I don't think so.
As far as truth, justice and the American Way are concerned I personally do not believe you'll ever find that at the Justice Department's Federal Trade Commission and certainly not their Consumer Protection Division. It is been my experience that they lie. If we cannot trust our government’s Justice Department, which the Federal Trade Commission is a part of; the little agency under the Justice Department then we cannot trust our government.
The Federal Trade Commission’s budget should be cut by 50% this year and then halved again the year after. All employees should be laid off and be disgorged of their retirements, chipped with RFID Satellite Tags and forbidden to go into private practice for 10-years.
I applaud President Bush and the administration for looking into the matter of possible price gouging because I believe that someone needs to curtail the mass media hysteria, which is pointing fingers at the oil companies for participating in the free market system and delivering to our nation our overwhelming desire for gasoline. Perhaps it is good to use the Federal Trade Commission because in my opinion they suck. But even a worthless agency like the FTC [personal opinion-free speech] will obviously figure out the truth about supply and demand and free market business practices.
And really all this investigation is BS anyway and the resultant of the Ayn Rand affect; where the over incited mob of our population simply wants to complain. You see, no one is entitled to Low prices and somehow our population has turned socialists and believe they are owed something and entitled. Of course it has been my experience of the Federal Trade Commission that they are a bunch of liberal socialists scum. Increase Miles Per Gallon 10% on Any Vehicle

It is all in the way you drive. There are situations when this is not practical but I find that most of the time I can do it.
Have you looked at the stickers on automobiles and wondered how if it would be possible to get those mileages? Have you purchased a new car and gotten angry because you could not come close to those figures?
My wife and I purchased a 2004 Mercury Sable. It was rated 23 city and 29 highway. If we did much in the city we were lucky to get 20 and if we went on a trip our highway mileage was doing good to reach 23.
Using information I had heard many years ago, I know not where, because of gas prices, we started changing the way we drive to see if we could get better mileage.
Our car has a computer that tracks fuel consumption and tells us the mileage in real time which helps me see the results in a dramatic way but here is the simple method to increase your miles per gallon on any car.
When you take off, use a very light pressure on the accelerator. Build speed gradually. If possible, avoid situations where you have to get up to speed fast.
Next is to not use cruise control. Cruise is a sure way to eat a lot of gas. Whenever possible accelerate while going down hill. Try to take it easy if you have to start out going up hill.
When you come to a hill don't try to force your car to maintain your desired speed. Let it gradually slow down some.
I have found that the mileage I get is not determined by the maximum speed I drive but the way I drive. The way they get the figures posted on your new car window is not real world conditions.
However I have been able to increase my country and highway mileage to about 27+ MPG and my city to about 24 just by taking it easy on the starts and hills.
I will admit that I go slightly over the speed limit often on the downhill but slow down to well below some times on steep hills.
This change may add a few minutes to your commute time but at nearly $3.00 per gallon, my 14.8% increase in gas mileage is significant. It is like getting an extra two gallons in the tank free, every fill-up.

Gasoline Prices Going Through the Roof

Here we go again. I guess now the "proof is in the pudding" and it is time for us to face reality.
Gas prices are not going back down and is now said to be going up, again, to an average of over $3.00 per gallon.
This will be the highest jump in gasoline prices we have had since January this year. The increase of gasoline clearly does not only affect the people but also our economy.
Back when gasoline reached over $2.00 per gallon you could see lower sales of SUV's and other large vehicles. People just could not afford to drive these type cars and trucks.
Just imagine what will happen now when prices exceed $3.00.
Not only will it affect our economy on a larger scale but for a lot of people it may be devastating.
Personally I cannot drive my car as much as I would like to. I actually have to limit my driving and make priorities of when do I really have to go somewhere.
Think about this. The minimum wage is around $5.50 in the USA. This means after you pay your state taxes, federal taxes and FICA. Of that hours work you are basically left with enough money to buy one gallon of gasoline which might take you 15-20 miles down the road. (Not to mention the price of gasoline is loaded with more Federal and State taxes.) In other words you have to work one hour to be able to drive for 15 minutes.
Gee, they say owning a car is a luxury and a privilege. Time for a reality check again.
For most Americans a car is a basic necessity. Is the government mentioning that they will do anything about this? (Like lower the Federal and State taxes on gasoline) NO! They are not.
Millions of Americans are already living below the poverty level today and how many will be considered to live below the poverty level after this increase in gasoline? A lot more people will have to seek help from the already strained welfare system just to feed their families. Children will go hungry so mom and dad can get to work to at least keep a roof over the family's head.
Are we really a people that are so easily led? Don’t we have enough gumption and guts to stand up and say enough is enough or if nothing else demand something in return? (Like an increase in wages or a cheaper barrel of oil from Iraq that we are pouring billions and billions of U.S. tax dollars into) I got a question what is the price of gasoline in Iraq? Did you know that the U.S government is subsidizing the price of gasoline for the people of Iraq. Just guess what people in Iraq are paying for a gallon of gasoline? Please sit down before we tell you. 5 CENTS a gallon. Whats wrong with this picture?
You might think "OH WELL" welfare will take care of these people. What if it will actually affect you? This extra money you will have to pay for gasoline might be the money that would enable you to have cable TV. a computer or a cell phone. It will not be very nice to give this up, will it?
Before it all gets out of hand let us try to do something, demand something. After all we are supposed to be a government for the people, by the people. ARE WE NOT?
Our family took steps to lower our spending on fuel. We tried many products from oils, liquids, attachments and researched every product out there to no avail found nothing that worked.
Until one day I was taking a taxi and the driver told me about this revolutionary new product that he had been using for months to increase his gas mileage, he said the whole Taxi cab company was using it and they increased their gas mileage by as much as 25%. He kindly gave me a few tablets to try. I took the tablets with great skepticism and tried them and to my surprise it really did work. The pills increased my mileage by about 20%. Fuel Economy And Personal Choices

I used to be an over-the-road, long haul truck driver. For a while, I even owned and drove my own truck. As an owner-operator, I became interested in fuel economy, and very aware of how personal choices can affect fuel economy and fuel costs.
I'm off the road now, although I still travel a great deal, mainly by car. Like everyone else, I have listened to, and watched, news stories, discussions, and interviews on the present and future state of energy and energy sources.
As a business man and private citizen who travels extensively by car, both for business and pleasure, I am concerned about present costs and those which might be expected in the future.
Even more, however, I am becoming concerned about what might be my future, if I live long enough, and what will almost certainly be the energy future of my grandchildren, if not my children. As a result of these concerns, I have begun to think more about the changes that I and others can make to alleviate some of the coming ecological and economic problems related to fuel.
Because of my experiences past and present, I have some thoughts on the subjects of travel, the operation of vehicles, and the modern driver. I would like to make a couple of points, particularly as these subjects and fuel economy meet at the nexus of choice.
For years, I have watched drivers drive far in excess of the posted speeds or rational speeds for the conditions in which they found themselves. I have witnessed several situations in which the driver created or arrived at a dangerous situation as a result of this need for speed and I have had several opportunities to view the sad results of these choices. Many of these individuals will eventually either grow up or remove themselves from the gene pool. In the meantime, they will continue to drive in this manner, and many will drive this way into old age. I remember one long traffic jam in Utah that resulted from a driver's attempt to find out what his new Porsche "could do". In the words of another truck driver on the scene, "It could kill him. That's what it could do."
However, let's just talk about speed from the viewpoint of fuel economy. I regularly see interviews with "the consumer" on TV. Often these people are bemoaning the money they have to spend on fuel. Daily, these people, or those just like them, blow down the road at high rates of speed when driving a few miles more slowly could result in appreciable real money savings, especially at today's fuel prices. Many of these cars are hardly fuel efficient in the first place, and, when operating at such high speeds become super-gas-guzzlers! Many of these people also rush up to stop signs and stop lights, maintaining their speed or accelerating until the last minute before treading heavily on the brake. They seem to give no thought to the fact that accelerating to a place where you are going to have to stop is equivalent to throwing money out the window, not to mention simply wasting fuel and causing the next expensive brake job to arrive more quickly. For many, the simple act of looking at what is happening ahead of them and removing their foot from the accelerator before arriving at a point where they HAVE TO STOP could result in savings in fuel and money.
There are many fuel efficient cars available, including a wide and growing range of hybrid cars, such as the Toyota Prius I recently bought. But, there are a great many people who insist on purchasing gas-guzzling SUV's or so-called luxury vehicles, even when they are not needed! I recently took a trip in my very comfortable Prius and averaged approximately 56 miles per gallon. Interestingly enough, on the second day of my trip, I was passed by another Prius going about 70 miles per hour. The owner had possibly bought a hybrid vehicle in hopes of saving money by improved fuel economy, but apparently chose not to change his or her driving habits (they went by too fast for me to see if it was a man or a woman driver) to get the maximum possible fuel economy.
I am sure that many SUV owners, as well as the rest of the public, wish they could save even a few cents on fuel. Properly inflated tires can help do this as can properly maintained cars in general. Every day, I see several cars with obvious low tires, and believe I can accurately assume that many drivers do not perform regular maintenance checks on their vehicles nor do they have regular oil changes done.
In an article I wrote about a year ago, I mentioned how a service station owner had pointed out to me years ago that his number of towing calls, tire sales, and vehicle repairs had increased since the advent of self-service gas stations and convenience stores. Relatively few people then, and probably not so many today, performed the regular maintenance chores necessary for optimum vehicle life and efficiency, as well as fuel economy.
These are just a few choices each of us has almost every day. Each is an opportunity to save money, lower personal expenses, and help, at least in some small way, to extend the dwindling resources available to all of us. Accepting the responsibility to make these decisions and act on them as a mature and responsible individual is a way to reduce out-of-pocket fuel costs, as well as the depletion of a diminishing supply of petroleum for fuel and lubrication of our beloved vehicles.
Other choices we might make could include the use of synthetic lubricants, alternative fuels such as ethanol, particularly E85, or biodiesel.
Rather than simply demanding that the government should "do something", we should tell them what to do! We can demand that they choose to help expand the development of renewable energy technology, synthetic petroleum substitutes, and alternative fuels while ending the appearance of collusion between government and oil interests.
Our choices, and those of business and government, will determine the future conditions of life on this planet, as well as the current condition of our personal finances.

Many of these cars are hardly fuel efficient in the first place, and, when operating at such high speeds become super-gas-guzzlers! Many of these people also rush up to stop signs and stop lights, maintaining their speed or accelerating until the last minute before treading heavily on the brake. They seem to give no thought to the fact that accelerating to a place where you are going to have to stop is equivalent to throwing money out the window, not to mention simply wasting fuel and causing the next expensive brake job to arrive more quickly. For many, the simple act of looking at what is happening ahead of them and removing their foot from the accelerator before arriving at a point where they HAVE TO STOP could result in savings in fuel and money.
There are many fuel efficient cars available, including a wide and growing range of hybrid cars, such as the Toyota Prius I recently bought. But, there are a great many people who insist on purchasing gas-guzzling SUV's or so-called luxury vehicles, even when they are not needed! I recently took a trip in my very comfortable Prius and averaged approximately 56 miles per gallon. Interestingly enough, on the second day of my trip, I was passed by another Prius going about 70 miles per hour. The owner had possibly bought a hybrid vehicle in hopes of saving money by improved fuel economy, but apparently chose not to change his or her driving habits (they went by too fast for me to see if it was a man or a woman driver) to get the maximum possible fuel economy.
I am sure that many SUV owners, as well as the rest of the public, wish they could save even a few cents on fuel. Properly inflated tires can help do this as can properly maintained cars in general. Every day, I see several cars with obvious low tires, and believe I can accurately assume that many drivers do not perform regular maintenance checks on their vehicles nor do they have regular oil changes done.
In an article I wrote about a year ago, I mentioned how a service station owner had pointed out to me years ago that his number of towing calls, tire sales, and vehicle repairs had increased since the advent of self-service gas stations and convenience stores. Relatively few people then, and probably not so many today, performed the regular maintenance chores necessary for optimum vehicle life and efficiency, as well as fuel economy.
These are just a few choices each of us has almost every day. Each is an opportunity to save money, lower personal expenses, and help, at least in some small way, to extend the dwindling resources available to all of us. Accepting the responsibility to make these decisions and act on them as a mature and responsible individual is a way to reduce out-of-pocket fuel costs, as well as the depletion of a diminishing supply of petroleum for fuel and lubrication of our beloved vehicles.
Other choices we might make could include the use of synthetic lubricants, alternative fuels such as ethanol, particularly E85, or biodiesel.
Rather than simply demanding that the government should "do something", we should tell them what to do! We can demand that they choose to help expand the development of renewable energy technology, synthetic petroleum substitutes, and alternative fuels while ending the appearance of collusion between government and oil interests.
Our choices, and those of business and government, will determine the future conditions of life on this planet, as well as the current condition of our personal finances.

Feeding Our Cars

Do you feed your car? Do you find that feeding your car is getting too expensive? Do you find that you are taking the money out of your children's mouth?
It does not matter what is happening to the gas prices or why it is happening. Cars still get hungry and we still need to feed them if we want to get anywhere.
We can cut down on unnecessary car trips and try to consolidate all our errands to the same area at the same time. Our cars use energy and need to be fed just like people.
What about the people that are cutting down on their food for themselves and their families to feed their cars? Or the people that are using their life savings to feed their cars or maxing out their credit cards?
Something terrible is making itself known in the state of California loud and clear. We the people are being beaten down into a corner trying to feed our families and our cars.
Our employers need to understand that the economy is changing. We might not be able to afford to feed our cars and make it into work everyday like we used to.
Maybe we can think of some other alternatives of how we can change with the changing economy.
(1) By changing jobs and trying to find one closer to your area.
(2) Maybe actually switching jobs with somebody working the same time of job you are doing in your area. That might or might not work depending on job qualifications and other perks related to employment.
(3) Set up a car pool with several people involved.
(4) Start taking public transportation if you haven’t already started.
This means leaving home 2 – 3 hours earlier to make it to work on time. Don’t forget the 2 - 3 hour trip home.
If more people are taking the bus maybe the transportation department needs to make the buses and the bus routes more people productive.
(5) Maybe we should work longer work days and work less work days per week.
(6) Maybe our employers could start a bus shuttle service to make sure their employees make it to work.
(7) Don’t laugh but maybe our employers should start putting beds and food at the work place. This way their employees will definitely make it to work the next morning.
(8) Every employee should receive a raise to help with the rising cost of feeding their car.
I don’t know what the answer is to this complicated problem of the oil companies gouging us poor United States citizens.
I just know that we the people vote in our wonderful government leaders are the ones that are taking the brunt for this miserable problem of feeding our cars.
I for one would like to be able to drive my car when and where I want. I do not like to be restricted to driving when it is necessary.
Maybe all the employers in California should ban together and put pressure on the government to help them solve this problem of feeding our cars.
I am afraid that many businesses and gas stations have already shut their doors for good. I do not want to see more added to this list.
We the people need our jobs to be able to feed our cars. It seems it is an unending circle. I ask you what do we do to break it.

Ethanol Fuels Becoming More Accessible to Drivers
(NewsUSA) - We all want to help save the environment, but for some of us it's easier said than done. Hybrids are still pricey, public transportation isn't always reliable and giving up our cars isn't necessarily an option.
Luckily there's an answer: ethanol.
Classified as an alternative fuel by the U.S. Department of Energy, the latest blend of ethanol fuel, or E85, is made up of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent unleaded gasoline. Ethanol contains oxygen, which results in fuel combusting completely and reducing emissions. Made from foodstuffs such as corn, wheat, barley and potatoes, ethanol is biodegradable. Production of ethanol actually requires less energy than diesel and gasoline.
The U.S. has already reduced its fuel consumption considerably, according to Bob Dinneen, president of the Renewable Fuels Association. But using the new ethanol fuel blends, such as E85, could help even more.
A small, publicly traded company with headquarters in Virginia, Xcelplus International has introduced new technology that will enable motorists to use the lower-priced E85 fuels that are now available.
The company's new kit can turn almost any car into a flexible fuel vehicle. The kit consists of a coating agent to protect the engine from the acids associated with E85 and a "FlexteK" adapter that allows the vehicle owner to choose the type of fuel to use in the car. The adapter can easily be removed and reinstalled in another vehicle if necessary.
Flexible fuel vehicles can operate on regular unleaded gasoline or an ethanol blend. Major manufacturers including Ford, General Motors, Isuzu and Mercedes have models that are flexible fuel vehicles, and the number is increasing every year.

(NewsUSA) - Electric cars have huge potential to change the auto industry, particularly with rising gas prices, but a new design out of California targets the niche of busy urban drivers.
The new Zap Xebra all-electric car is a 40-mph, three-wheeled automobile that was designed for people who do a lot of in-town driving. Unlike hybrids, the Zap car needs no gas at all - just plug into any conventional outlet.
Publicly owned Zap (stock symbol: ZP) sees a market with multi-car families that are looking for the fuel-savings benefits electrics can offer for commuting, errands or government and corporate fleet use.
"Many people buy electric cars because they want to use them when they don't need their gas cars," said Alex Campbell, spokesman for Zap. "What they quickly realize is that most of their daily trips are perfect for electric cars, and realistically it becomes the first car."
According to Zap, studies show most driving trips are within 20 miles of home, distances well within the city limit for the Xebra, which can travel up to 40 miles per charge.
According to a study by the Green Car Institute, 15 percent of all cars sold could be electric today. When consumers have a choice between driving an electric car and a gas car, they choose the electric car 90 percent of the time.

Have you ever noticed that most road rage cases happen in the summer time when it is really hot? It is true and you can ask any highway patrol officer about this. It can be bumper-to-bumper traffic for hours, but if the weather is cool, chances of road rage are low.
Maybe this is why we call those who commit road rage as “hot heads” because they really are hot and of course their blood is boiling too. In fact one study suggests that road rage is 60% more likely as the temperatures reach 100 degrees and 80% more likely after 105 degrees.
But still you ask; Why Road Rage Occurs During Hot Weather? Well, the truth is no one is quite sure why, only that it is you see? As we enter this hot season we will see more road rage and you can if you want to refuse to participate. How so you ask?
Well it is simple really, when you see someone flipping you off, do not make eye contact and adjust your speed to allow them to pass or go along their merry way. No need to incite the person who has just given you a hand signal as to their IQ level “1” or told you that you are “Number 1” which chances are you already know.
Think of it this way if that person is telling you that you are number one, think of him as “Number 2” and if you feel compelled flash him a peace sign so he knows he is only second best to you. Consider this in 2006.
